HIPAA Training ― Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
Delivery Option: Online & In-Person
As part of the HIPAA Privacy Rule, covered employers are required to train employees on how to protect personal health information (PHI). Effective training helps organizations avoid possible civil and criminal penalties of up to $250,000 per year, and up to ten years imprisonment.
Why Train on HIPAA Compliance?
The standardization of electronic health care transactions and records has dramatically increased the potential for privacy violations. Consequently, Congress incorporated provisions into the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that mandated the adoption of Federal privacy protections for individually identifiable health information.
The resulting Privacy Rule set national standards for the protection of health information for three types of covered entities: health plans, health care clearinghouses and health care providers who conduct certain health care transactions electronically. Currently, all covered entities must have implemented standards to protect and guard against the misuse of individually identifiable health information.
