Global Data Privacy Training

Delivery Option: Online & Offline

Data privacy laws impact how businesses operate locally and globally. Employers must train employees working with such data to understand the basic concepts and practices related to data privacy.

Why Train on Global Data Privacy?
Global trading and business-related data transfers are on the rise. At the same time, laws that regulate data privacy vary widely around the world. Employees should understand basic global privacy laws and how to secure their organizations’ private information.

What Does this Course Cover?
This course teaches employees accountability procedures and data control guidelines.

Employees will develop practical skills for identifying when data transfers are taking place, the privacy and confidentiality laws and organization policies that apply, and how to make ethical and consistent decisions about data handling in a highly dynamic and burgeoning field.   In particular, employees will:

  • Become aware of differing legal standards governing the handling of personal data on a global level
  • Appreciate the dynamic, process-driven arena of global data flows and global networks
  • Learn about the privacy implications inherent in working with third parties in international business
  • Appreciate the importance of following organization policy on good governance, transparency, and privacy and confidentiality matters
  • Become aware of the organization's responsibility to protect the privacy of all data in its possession and the circumstances to watch closely with regard to this responsibility
  • Know when and how to obtain feedback within the organization on data privacy issues
  • Appreciate the importance of accountability and maintaining the highest ethical standards when dealing in this rapidly emerging compliance arena

How is the Course Information Delivered?
Through a series of scenarios and interactive exercises, employees learn how to identify data transfers and ensure data privacy.  Employees are asked to answer multiple choice questions where they consider the possible outcomes and implications of hypothetical situations. They are also required to correctly answer three questions in a ‘Quiz Show’ exercise in order to complete the course. The course concludes with customized information about how to get assistance and report concerns within your organization.
