Jim Burke CEO

Jim Burke joined Global Compliance in 2009 from Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) where he held a variety of senior leadership roles including President, Global Information Services and Chief Quality Officer, President, U.S. Customer Segments, and Senior Vice President, Global Solutions and Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to joining D&B, he was Chief Development Officer of Prudential's e-Business Group and Head of Internet Marketing at First USA Bank. He also held marketing leadership roles at MCI Communications and served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Jim received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Villanova University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. He serves on the Boards of two charitable organizations, Covenant House and Tuesday's Children.

Mark Brady COO

Mark Brady has 14 years of business operations experience. As Chief Operating Officer at Global Compliance, Brady is responsible for day-to-day operations to drive growth and maximize profits.

Mark brings a breadth of experience in the implementation of operational efficiencies and strategic growth plans in both Fortune 1000 companies and start-ups. Most recently, he was with Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) where he held a variety of leadership roles including SVP and General Manager, Small Business Marketing, SVP and Leader, Global Pricing and Analysis, and VP and Managing Director, D&B United Kingdom.

Before joining D&B, Mark worked for Prudential Financial as VP Financial Planning and Analysis, Juniper Financial where he held the title of Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, and Bank One where he served as a Senior Financial Analyst for International Development Markets. He began his career in accounting with MBNA America Bank.

Mark received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Delaware.

Tom Parker President, Global Solutions

Tom Parker has more than 15 years management experience across product development, operations, finance and strategic analysis and planning. As President, Global Solutions, Tom is responsible for the strategic direction and execution of all product and service lines and oversight of product and service delivery operations.

Most recently, Tom was with Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) where he held a variety of leadership roles including Vice President, US Sales Operations, Vice President Global Data Product & Operations, and Vice President, Global Product Strategy, Product Director, and Director, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis.

Before joining D&B, Tom worked for Procter and Gamble where he served as Group Manager, Finance. He began his career in the United States Coast Guard, Office of Naval Intelligence as a Strategic Intelligence Analyst.

Tom received a Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Duke University.

Nick Ciancio President, International; Chief Compliance Officer

Nick Ciancio has more than 25 years of experience in senior marketing and business development positions in the telecommunications and technology industries. Currently, he is responsible for driving international sales efforts.

Prior to joining Global Compliance, Nick served as Vice President of Corporate Integration and Infrastructure Development at Ethernet networking services provider Yipes Enterprise Service. Before Yipes, he served as Chief Marketing Officer for Curiosity.com, and previously he held the title of Vice President of New Product and Business Development for US West Communications. Nick began his telecommunications career with Pacific Bell serving as Director of Marketing, and he was then promoted to Executive Director, New Product Development.

Before entering telecommunications, Nick served as a Mathematical Statistician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Nick holds a Master of Art in Statistics from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts.

Beverly Bertram Timm General Counsel

With 20 years of legal and management experience, Beverly Bertram Timm has expertise in contract negotiation, international regulations compliance and litigation management.

Beverly joined Global Compliance after four years as Senior Counsel for the ChannelAdvisor Corporation. In this position she negotiated and drafted domestic and international Software and Services Agreements with numerous Fortune 100 organizations.

Prior to joining the ChannelAdvisor Corporation, Beverly was Assistant General Counsel at Metromedia International Group, Inc., General Counsel at HLM Design Inc., and held various other positions, including Vice President of Legal Affairs, at Glenayre Electronics, Inc.

Beverly is a cum laude graduate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She received her Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law.

David Trachtenberg CMO

David Trachtenberg has over 20 years executive and marketing management experience with emphasis on brand building, operations management, direct response marketing, corporate communications, and strategic planning. As Chief Marketing Officer, Trachtenberg is responsible for global branding and marketing efforts in support of direct and indirect business acquisition.

Most recently David was President of Hartland Group, a consultancy focused on strategic planning and global sales and marketing. Prior, he served as President and CEO of Glowpoint, Inc., President and Chief Marketing Officer for StarBand Communications, Inc., and President and Chief Operating Officer for Prodigy Communications Corporation.

Previously, David spent nine years at MCI Telecommunications in a variety of marketing leadership roles including Executive Director, Internet Marketing, Executive Director, Brand Marketing, Director, Retail Marketing, Director, Customer Communications and Fulfillment, and Director, International Marketing. He began his career as a consultant for Bain & Company with focus on strategic planning and technology.

David received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Tufts University, a Master's degree in Business Administration from The Wharton Business School, and a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Fellow and a member of the Board of Governors of The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

Bob McCarter CTO/CIO

Bob McCarter has 19 years experience in database and information systems development and product and service technology development. His current focus is on creating and supporting the technology infrastructure necessary to deliver innovative products and services globally.

Bob assumed the role of Vice President, Information Technology and Product Development in September 2003 with the launch of Global Compliance as an independent company. Prior to this, he served with Global Compliance’s former parent company, Pinkerton, Inc., in the position of Chief Technology Officer within Pinkerton’s Consulting and Investigations division. Previously Bob held the role of Director of Strategic Initiatives and Information Systems Architect for Pinkerton Services Group.

Prior to joining Pinkerton, Bob performed system design and project management on large-scale fluid dynamics and environmental remediation projects at the University of California at Berkeley. Formerly, he had served as an Information Systems Consultant for Six R Communications and BellSouth and also held the title of Equipment Engineering Manager for BellSouth.

Bob holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University.

Shyarsh Desai SVP, Business Development

Shyarsh Desai has over 16 years of experience in strategy and business development. In his position, he is responsible for charting future growth and focusing on establishing new forms of distribution for Global Compliance's products and services.

Before joining Global Compliance, Shyarsh most recently served as Leader, Corporate Strategy and Business Development for Dun and Bradstreet (D&B). Prior to D&B, Shyarsh played a significant role in sourcing and executing transactions in the Corporate Development (M&A) group at IBM.

Shyarsh received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Bombay and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Carl Wideberg President, Global Sales

Carl Wideberg's experience includes more than 25 years of sales and marketing management within information and technology organizations. He is currently responsible for growing sales and revenue across all lines of Global Compliance's business as well as overseeing all aspects of Client Account Management and Client Care.

Most recently, Carl founded iSalesman, a sales agency specializing in the creation of virtual sales forces. Prior to iSalesman, Wideberg was with Dun and Bradstreet (D&B), where he served as Senior Vice President-Strategic Customers and Government Accounts. Before D&B, he held the title of Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing - North America for Equant, and prior served as a Vice President, Sales for MCI, and a District Sales Manager for AT&T. Wideberg began his sales career at IBM.

Carl received a BA in Management and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He is also a Six Sigma Green Belt.

Sheri Clapper VP, Human Resources

Sheri Clapper has over 20 years of human resources experience in the corporate and government sectors with a proven record of success in broad multicultural environments. She is responsible for providing oversight of all aspects of human resources programs and policies.

Before joining Global Compliance, Sheri was most recently Human Resources Manager/Office Manager at Merchandising Corporation of America where she developed, implemented, and administered several employee benefit programs. Prior to that, she served as HR Special Projects Officer at Emirates Palomar Medical Technology Services in the United Arab Emirates.

Sheri also has a long tenure of military posts which took her from the United Kingdom where she held a position as Manager, Quality Force (Employee Relations), Military Personnel Flight to Alabama where she was Deputy, Institutional Effectiveness at the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).

Sheri received a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala., and a Master of Science in Adult Education from Troy State University also in Montgomery.

Carrie S. Penman President, Ethical Leadership Group

Carrie Penman is President, Ethical Leadership Group, the in-house Expert Advisory team of Global Compliance.  Carrie has been with the team since July 2003. She does custom ethics consulting work for clients in the areas of program and culture assessment; communications; executive and all-employee training; and program strategy and integration.  She is also serving as a government approved monitor/external ethics advisor for several companies with government Administrative Agreements.

Before joining the Ethical Leadership Group, Carrie served as the Deputy Director and Ethics Officer of the Ethics and Compliance Officers Association (ECOA) from 2000 to 2003.  In this role, Carrie managed the design and delivery of all member services including conferences, forums, executive education courses, benchmarking and research, as well as the Association’s internal ethics initiatives.

Prior to joining the ECOA, Carrie served as the Director of the Corporate Ethics Office for Westinghouse Electric Corporation from 1994 to 1999.  In that position, she developed and implemented the first Westinghouse comprehensive, corporation-wide, ethics and compliance program for a global employee population of 76,000 in diverse business segments including defense and government-related operations.  Carrie joined Westinghouse in 1979 at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and advanced to the position of senior scientist.  She moved into the corporation's commercial environmental operations and remediation activities and then managed the development of the corporation’s environmental management programs.

Carrie is currently an Executive Fellow at the Bentley University Center for Business Ethics. She previously served on the ECOA Board of Directors and its Executive Committee; participated as an advisor for the research project on Ethics Programs: the Role of the Board, conducted by The Conference Board; and served on the Advisory Board for the Duquesne University, Beard Center for Leadership in Ethics.

Carrie is a frequent speaker at Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics, and Conference Board events as well as other ethics conferences and forums. She is a member of the faculty of the Managing Ethics in Organizations course that is co-sponsored by the ECOA and the Center for Business Ethics at Bentley University. She has also recently published several articles on best practices in benchmarking.

A 1979 graduate of Purdue University, Carrie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in textile science.

Steve Priest Senior Advisor, Global Compliance and Founder, Ethical Leadership Group

Steve Priest has done ethics consulting in over forty countries for great organizations in most major industries. He is frequently asked to speak before organizations such as the Conference Board, Institute of Internal Auditors, Young Presidents Organization and Ethics Officer Association. He has raised awareness of the importance of ethical behavior on television, newspapers and magazines.

Steve has been described by the Wall Street Journal as "one of the most sought after consultants to keep companies on the straight and narrow." Since 1993, Steve has built his ethics and compliance consulting reputation, in both the public and private sectors, helping more than 30% of the companies in the Fortune 200 meet their ethics and compliance program needs in more than forty countries globally.

Prior to founding the Ethical Leadership Group in 1993, Steve was executive director of the Center for Ethics and Corporate Policy, a Chicago-based ethics think tank. Steve received his ethics training both in the real world of business and inside the ivy covered walls at Harvard University, where he received a Master of Theological Studies degree. Steve has founded, nurtured and sold two businesses. In addition to consulting and speaking, Steve is a member of the Board of Directors of DePaul’s Institute for Business and Professional Ethics.

Steve has his MBA and BA from the University of Chicago, and studied international organizational development in the Graduate Business School at the Katholieke University of Leuven in Belgium.

Suneet Bhatt SVP, Online Solutions

Suneet Bhatt has twelve years of experience in various leadership roles across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. In his position, he manages the online experience, both public facing and client facing, for branding, marketing, and product service efforts.

Prior to joining Global Compliance, Suneet served as co-founder of Social Symmetry, a Social Impact Consulting company. Social Symmetry was the culmination of his work at Prudential Financial, Dun & Bradstreet, and Hagerty Consulting, where, in addition to operating as a Senior Consultant, he led the organization’s award-winning re-branding efforts. At D&B, Suneet served as Leader, Customer Strategy and Product Development for the Small Business Division, and at Prudential Financial he held the position of Vice President in the organization’s e-Business Development Group and served as Project Manager for the company’s year-long 125th Anniversary celebration.

Suneet has a BA in English from Rutgers University and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He serves as co-founder and executive advisor to Dream Village, a start-up social enterprise that uses picture books and the web to teach children about pressing social issues.
